Hi, I have been gluten free for 25 years and included oats in my list of forbidden foods until I learned that you can get gluten free oats which I feel compelled to share. I hope to reduce the gluten in my girlfriends diet. I have not tried beer in decades but may try the sorghum that you mentioned.

This works for me. I find myself more open than I've ever been, not worried about anyone stealing my ideas, and I get how creativity always trumps competition... and that there's an abundance of inspiration.

...and then you DO IT. And then obstacles, then frustrations, and everything can feel like it's slowing down. The ebb and flow is killer.

Either way, it's no fun without action.

I also had the immense privilege to have Polly Hobbs as my art teacher at Sam Barlow High. She inspired me so much, I became a high school art teacher. Beyond art, I witnessed her caring way with students who were on the verge of dropping out of school, losing themselves to drug abuse, or subjected to a sad home life. I feel she saved many lives...she's downright heroic in my eyes! Like you, she was a pivotal mentor in my life and I am eternally grateful for her loving model of how a teacher can impact a life and how essential the arts are to a fulfilling and whole life.

Great seeing you too, Howard.

It is inevitable that people will see things differently. We all learn differently as well. That's what makes communities work. My grandma used to tell me that if everyone was the same it would be an awfully boring world. While I didn't learn anything new, the event did spark some thoughts, and those are among my favorite types of experiences. That's why I so highly recommend seeing them.

Yes, perception is reality – that is what I love about the branding and marketing work I do, particularly when I can convince clients to leave all the 'spin' on the sidelines and have a real dialog.

Take care.

Kelly... It was great to see you again at the event.

I've always thought it interesting when 5 people witness an accident in an intersection and the police report contains 5 completely different viewpoints of what they just observed

Perspective is usually colored by their base of experience. Contrary to your commentary, I pretty much disagree with about all of your viewpoints.

Isn't it great that you and I can still be friends and have a completely different experience at the same event. I will be posting my feelings on my blog soon.

Why is this important as Chris and Julien would ask? Ultimately our perception is our reality. I did learn something new and I liked it.

BTW... I don't think Andy Rooney should change a thing. And neither should you. Thanks for being "real". ...Howard

Oh, I concur! My impression of Chase's marketing, over the years, is that they are totally out of touch with reality, and they don't actually seem to give a rats tail about that. They must plan on a high turnover rate and figure why bother. I guess when you're the biggest bank in the country, you don't have to care, but it puzzles me why on earth Chase would want to buy billboard advertising to prove on a wide scale that they don't care.

It is so easy to create a positive dialog in advertising, and to create meaningful connections is just not that hard. The benefits of investing in truly good creative pay off every single time.

They must be using the same agency as Chase. Chase, which according to their billboards, believes that every bank in Seattle (except Chase) flat out sucks coffee grounds. Man, those are some arrogant and annoying ads.
